A Progression of Gorski Hats

Everybody has to start somewhere. These pictures of some of Gorski's early helmets and learning experiences were taken in December 2006.

This is a pretty wide web page. If you are using Internet Explorer, press F11 for a full screen view - it's worth it.

If you're on dial-up, now would be a good time to get a beer and have a smoke. This is gonna take a while.

1986

Made from a DMC-6 band mask, a Swindell neck dam, and a SL-17 handle.

It was too heavy, too tall, and wet inside.

1988

Originally a Bell motorcycle helmet bought used at a garage sale in Houston.

This was a free flow helmet and very heavy on the surface, but

extremely dry and comfortable in the water.

1997

First bronze prototype.

Free flow hat, sand casted silicone bronze.

A non-working Gorski assembled for the traveling dive museum in Louisiana.

The museum is located in Morgan City across from City Hall.

1999

First bronze production helmet.

Six were built in 1999 with the

Cyclone 5000 regulator.

2004

Second re-modified stainless steel prototype with side/rear mounted side block.

Block location described by Gorski as a big mistake. Made the hat side-heavy and unbalanced.
