Oceaneering's Ocean Diver 1. In the background is Atwoo Oceanic's Gettysburg. Under the control shack, is a Wilson side mating bell system. The photo was taken around 1975/1976 at Bombay High. I was on the drill ship Dalmahoy. We were recovering the stack after it had snapped off when the ship dragged anchors when a cyclone [hurricane to you] hit it. The Gettysburg was brough in to drill a hole into the Dalmahoy's hole to cement up it in. |

The
white stuff in the water are bubbles from a blow out. Just this side of
the bubbles lies the Milton G. Hume. It was a jack up. Years later when
the bubbles died down, the rig was salvaged. They didn't bother doing anything
with the bubbles as it is only carbon dioxide. One day for lack of something
better to do we drove the Independence through the bubble. It sank about
a foot and the engines went into
overspeed. |

Independence
main deck looking aft. The Derrick / lay barge (astern the Independence)
was
the DB 26 or 29. It was the one that capsized off Taiwan with the 4 divers
in sat.

Benny and I after another days hard work. I git the 2 snapper and Benny got the others. (Benny) was killed when the Ocean Princess(?) capsized in the Gulf of Thailand around 1990. He drowned and his body was found washed up on a beach. |

The
scuba tank gives an idea of the size of the barracoota. These babies would
bite fish off our spears and leave grooves in the stainless shaft.
