DSV Smit Masluis Jan 19th 1986: 1140 hrs after Exocet Attack
Northern Persian Gulf at the height of the tanker war 
In this attack by the Iraqi airforce the dive team took 18 casualties out of 25.  I was one of the 7 to escape without a scratch.
Ten days later those of us that wanted to were back in sat. We lost one diver that day

This diver was playing with his brand new Green River dive knife on his first sat.  He had to get the bell man back to rescue him after he half sawed his hand off.  I stitched him up and we finished their bellrun.  It took micro surgery and 6 months before he regained partial use of his finger.
