Eastbay, Gulf of Mexico. Late January, 2001

Aquatica installs a 512' spool piece to repair an 18" line damaged by mud slide. The spool was fabricated and floated from a lay barge in a nearby channel before being towed to the work site. Three lift boats positioned it across the repair area.

Lunatic tender learns to love the job. The final pup joint with a misalignment flange. Total length of repair: 530'


After being cold cut, the ends of the existing pipeline were fitted with Oceaneering smart flanges. Flange Skillets simplified the flange ups. Hydratight jacks tightened the smart flanges to spec.

These photos were taken in 1998 by Derek Moore while we were doing a salvage operation on the "Arabic" (1903-1915). The wreck was in 100m off the Southern coast of Ireland, the salvage vessel was the "Rockwater 1". The "Arabic" was torpedoded and sunk by U-24, commanded by Lt. Commander Schneider. The diver is Jack Steinmetz. 100m = 328 fsw
